For this assessment task, plan your report, gather planning materials including a written plan/outline of your proposed draft, and meet with your assessor to answer questions in relation to writing task analysis, planning and organisational requirements.

This assessment task, once completed, will form a first step towards completing Assessment Task 2, in which you will follow your Assessment Task 1 plan, write the draft, edit the draft and produce a final document.

You are employed by Workplace Solutions Agency. Your task (across Assessment Task 1 and 2) is to plan the draft, edit and .

The report should have the following main parts:

●      Marketing and promotion

●      Recommendations

●      Table of contents

●      Executive summary

●      Operational structure

●      Acknowledgments

●      Communication

●      Title page.

The target audience for the report is the manager of the Moortown Sports and Leisure Centre. Your assessor will adopt the role of the manager in a simulated client consultation (see below). Your report should be approximately 900 words +-10%.

Procedure

  1. Carefully read the Moortown Sports and Leisure Centre report findings.
  2. Analyse, generate ideas, research and plan an outline for the writing task scenario in the assessment description. Gather documents you have produced while planning, such as:
    1. PAMS analysis
    2. brainstorming activities
    3. mind mapping
    4. outline.
  3. Prepare to discuss your planning documents and the planning process.
  4. Meet with the manager of the Moortown Sports and Leisure Centre to discuss your planning process. In your meeting, carry out the following.

  6. Describe your planning process by answering the following questions.
  7. Look at your PAMS analysis. What is the purpose of the writing task and how will you achieve this?
  8. What is the most appropriate document format for this task and why is it appropriate to the task?
  • What means of communication or communication tools (pens, paper, PowerPoint, Word) will you use and why?
  1. Explain how your plan/outline shows an overview of the structure and contents of the report.
  2. What are your main points and main arguments? Explain how your plan/outline captures these.
  3. Submit planning document to your assessor in accordance with the specifications below.

You must:

  • participate in a meeting with your client (manager of the Moortown Sports and Leisure Centre) to discuss planning.

Adjustment for distance-based learners

This task is suitable for distance learners. No variation of the task is required. Documents may be emailed, and an interview with the assessor may be held over the telephone or with a teleconferencing tool.
