Before class, obtain the current reimbursement rates for both free and reduced-rate meals for eligible children on the USDA Child and Adult Food Program website (http://www.fns.usda.gov/cacfp/reimbursement-rates). In class, follow these steps:
a. Using Director’s Resource 12-1, record reimbursement allowances in the spaces provided.
b. Using information from Director’s Resource 12-1 and the information given in the chart “Number of Meals Served” (Director’s Resource 12-2), complete the Director’s Resource by calculating the amount to be reimbursed for meals served during the month.
c. Share your results with a classmate. If your results differ, review your calculations together. If you are unable to resolve the discrepancy, share your results with another student pair.
d. Discuss the potential administrative challenges in maintaining accurate records related to the food program. e. Discuss how the use of technology would facilitate the process of determining reimbursement rates for your program.
