Think of a conflict that you’ve been involved in. These can be conflicts at work, at home, or with friends. What led up to this conflict, how did it unfold,and how was it resolved? We’ve discussed various styles of speech, structures and vocal tactics; if you were in this same conflict again, how would you use what you’ve learned to resolve the disagreement, or avoid it entirely? Could you use persuasive tactics to defuse the situation before it erupted? Would you have controlled your inflection or vocal output so that your delivery changed the way a message was interpreted? How could your nonverbal communication have contributed in a more positive way?

Part B:

For this discussion, please review your Memorable Speech from Week 2 and your Informative Speech from Week 7. Be honest and forthcoming – how would you evaluate your growth over the past several weeks? Critically assess the presentation in terms of your personal growth in this class. What did you do well? What can you improve upon?
