Choose a program with which you are familiar and for which a description of program theory is available. Apply the guidelines for assessing internal validity and for external validation discussed in this chapter. You may want to consider doing this with colleagues. Form a preliminary judgment about whether the program has the potential to contribute in a signifi cant way to the outcomes it is trying to achieve. Suggest some appropriate responses to the fi ndings of your review, for example, any changes that might improve the potential of the program to achieve outcomes.
