This task is based upon a scenario where you are required to make a presentation to an audience at an industry seminar or conference. You should base your presentation on your own industry or enterprise. This will probably involve researching what is accepted as best practice within your own industry.
Scenario
You have the opportunity of representing your own company or organisation at a seminar or conference of the industry group. You need to deliver a 10 minute presentation, followed by 5 minutes of question time to an audience which may be up to 100 people in an auditorium.
The purpose of your presentation is to enhance the profile and reputation of your company, and place it in the minds of the audience as an industry leader. You need to describe how your company is an example to others of best practice for the industry.
NOTE: You can invent the actual company you represent. The company will be in your own area of industry or enterprise and therefore you should be able to research the meaning of best practice as it applies to the industry. You can also invent your actual position within the company and any credentials you think you might need in order for the audience to accept your credibility.
- Use the table below to prepare for your presentation

|

Provide a minimum of one example of how best practice in this area operates in your company. |
Give a short summary of the essential learning outcome that you wished your audience to reach. |
|
- Design a Power Point presentation that you can use to support your delivery. Save it with the filename BSBLDR503 Assessment 3. You will need to submit this to your assessor.
- Create a Word document with the filename BSBLDR503 Assessment 3.
- Change the font to 14 pt and 1.5 line spacing.
- Write out your speech in full, and then rehearse it. The speech should be between 8 and 10 minutes in length.
- Once you know your speech thoroughly, review the Power Point and see whether it will be sufficient to prompt you – so that you don’t have to read the speech and can concentrate on your audience. Modify the Power Point if necessary. Alternatively, create small cards with the key points that you can refer to while speaking.
- Arrange with your assessor to deliver the speech. You must have an audience of at least 3 people and the speech must be observed by your assessor – either face to face or you may submit a video.
- Deliver the presentation to your audience. You must answer questions at the end. Your assessor will complete the following observation form.
