Your analysis will take the form of a 3,000 written report evaluating the financial performance of a real world company in terms of profitability, efficiency, productivity and liquidity.
Issues that I will take into account when marking the assessment will include: setting of the context for the company; arithmetical accuracy; interpretation of the figures; use made of information that is available; structure of your written report.
Required –
You are required to answer the questions below regarding a company from the Financial Times 100 index, allocated by matching the number next to your name with the corresponding company number. You should then obtain a copy of the company’s latest Financial Statements and refer to the company’s website for further information.
(1) Set the company context and summarise the history of the company including any significant developments during the past 5 years or since incorporation.

(2) Analyse and evaluate the profitability of the company over the past 5 years or since incorporation.

(3) Analyse and evaluate the productivity of the company over the past 5 years or since incorporation.

(4) Analyse and evaluate the liquidity of the company over the past 5 years or since incorporation.
(10 marks)
(5) Compare the financial performance of the company with its nearest competitor over the same period.
(15 marks)
(6) Discuss the financial performance of the company within its industrial sector over the same period.
(15 marks)
(7) Discuss possible solutions to any problems or issues you have identified in your evaluation and assess the future prospects of the company.
