Consider the ancient suicide narratives:
- Abimelech in Judges 9
- Samson in Judges 16
- Saul in 1 Samuel 31
- Ahithophel in 2 Samuel 17
- Zimri in 1 Kings 16
- Lucretia in Bb reading
- Cato in Bb reading
Write a letter as if composed by ONE of the characters you read about who committed suicide (e.g., Samson, Lucretia, etc) to St. Augustine. In the letter, the author should explain his/her decision to Augustine as though he/she has read Augustine’s writing on suicide and is responding to it. The letter writer may be writing a last note before committing suicide (explaining/defending the decision) or corresponding from beyond the grave reflecting on their suicide with or without regret. The letter should reflect some details of the writer’s situation/suicide and awareness of Augustine’s arguments. (At least 500 words)
