We are going to have to let you go. The company has a clearly stated rule against drugs in the workplace.” What procedures would you insist on before you were fired? If the employer refused to follow these procedures, what would you do? Explain your answers.
b. If your employer is in financial trouble and going out of business, what are the arguments for and against requiring the owner to give you notice and severance pay? With which point of view do you agree? Explain the reasons for your answers.
c. Can you think of any jobs in which the employee should be required to give the employer notice of intent to leave the job? If so, which ones, and why should notice be required? Should there be a penalty if the worker fails to do this? Explain the reasons for your answers.
