ESSAY INSTRUCTIONS, RUBRICS & GENERAL INFORMATION:
1. You may use any source to answer the questions. You may also cite personal experience relative to the topic. If you reference other sources, you will receive extra points (strongly suggested).
2. Don’t forget to include a cover page. This must include Course Name, and your name. 3. Don’t forget to number the pages! 4. You may single space your answers. 12 pt. font only. Do not play with the margins or
spacing to make your work appear longer etc. Significant points will be deducted if this occurs. 5. Please do not ask me how long or how many pages your answers should be! However,
questions cannot be answered in a paragraph or two, especially if you double-space your answer. If you choose to do that you will loose points. You should write until you feel that you have thoroughly answered the question, and have demonstrated complete knowledge of the subject matter.
6. Superficial answers will not receive high grades (i.e., you must provide greater depth than the evening news or the “person on the street.”
7. You will be graded on, depth of thought, grammar, and quality of research sources utilized. Citing personal experience is also welcome and encouraged. Spelling, presentation of material, and timely submission is also evaluated.
8. The paper must be written in MLA (Modern Language Association) format. If you are not familiar with the proper way to write and document research my suggestion is to obtain a copy of the following reference: The Elements of Style by William Strunk Jr, and E.B White.
