The literature review must contain the following basic elements:
Introduction: Define the general topic, issue, or critical focus to be researched. Describe the significance of the research problem and the importance of the proposed research. Provide definitions of key terms and concepts where necessary, and describe the objectives of your study. This section may also include background information that places the research area in context. Point out overall trends in what has been published about the topic.
Analysis and Synthesis: Organize, categorize, summarize, and synthesize past articles, reports, case studies, etc. You can organize the works into categories, sections, and subsections. Conclusion: Evaluate the body of knowledge reviewed, pointing out any new perspectives, gaps in research, or inconsistencies. You may provide some insight into the relationship between the central topic of the literature review and the larger discipline, or the profession. Discuss areas of further research that had been identified by other researchers and that can be undertaken to explore the unexplored areas.
