Divide into groups of three for the purpose of role-playing a parent conference. In this situation, a young mother has requested a conference about her 3-year-old son who spends a great deal of time in the housekeeping area in the classroom. He also plays with dolls, washes dishes, and dresses up in a skirt and high heels at home. The father is very upset and annoyed by this behavior and has pressured the mother into calling for a conference. The father is unable to attend the conference. The roles are as follows:
■■ male teacher
■■ mother
■■ female director Using the checklist shown in Director’s Resource 13-2, discuss each item listed. If you were the director or the mother in the role-play, give your perception of how well the teacher handled the questions asked.
1. Using the “Volunteer Tasks Form” in Director’s Resource 13-30, develop a list of specific tasks a volunteer could do in the specified classroom areas.
