Background Scenario
This small – medium sized organisation has been affected by unpredicted and significant external events, which have created opportunities and increased demand for its services.
The opportunities have implications for the financial and social sustainability of the organisation and its staff, if you can rapidly adapt to the situation. Many staff have been with the company for over 10 years working in the same roles. Access to your suppliers is constrained due to the COVID-19 restrictions placed by governments.
You have been asked to prepare a report recommending how to take advantage of the upsurge in demand and the steps senior management should take.
*Examples of external include more local demand due to the COVID pandemic, outcome of natural disaster in the local area, changes in international trade relations etc..
Task
Identify an industry sector and prepare a report recommending how to take advantage of the upsurge in demand and the steps senior management should take to lead the workforce, manage suppliers and communicate with customers and staff. Identify possible points of conflict or difficulty in changing practices and suggest how the project leaders could address them. Explain and justify the approaches with reference to the literature and concepts covered in the Course.
