Organizational Behavior (OB) is the study of human behavior in organizational settings, the interface between human behavior and the organization, and the organization itself. The study of organizational behaviour gives insight on how employees behave and perform in the workplace. It helps us develop an understanding of the aspects that can motivate employees, increase their performance, and help organizations establish a strong and trusting relationship with their employees.
Effective Communication is significant for managers in the organizations so as to perform the basic functions of management. Managers devote a great part of their time in communication. They generally devote approximately 6 hours per day in communicating. They spend great time on face to face or telephonic communication with their superiors, subordinates, colleagues, customers or suppliers. Effective communication can also assist employees with setting and achieving goals, therefore improving job satisfaction.
The right skill set empowers managers to identify, face, and overcome various problems that might arise in the workplace. Managers equipped with key managerial skills, are expected to communicate clearly, coordinate and motivate staff, as well as plan tasks effectively are vital skills that all managers need. Management skills are therefore important because they can help an organization run like a well-oiled machine, as well as helping their subordinates improve their careers.

Citing examples from the class lectures or from literature review discuss different types of non verbal types of communication. What are the four communication skills that a manager should be equipped with. Of these skills, which one have you have experienced as being effective be it at a work, school or social setting level. • In Chapter 4 Conclusion and Recommendations, summarise the lessons learnt from this research and highlight practical recommendations on this topic. (2 pages)
