Purpose: This assignment provides the opportunity to demonstrate your ability to integrate the course concepts and skills. The purpose of this assignment is to analyze an organization’s problem or challenge using frameworks and concepts from the Management and Leadership course.  This assignment will allow you to draw on allthe units covered in the course and will help you develop skills in applyingthe course content in an organizational analysis.

Task:

Step 1: Identify an appropriate organization for your analysis. This may be the organization you currently work in or have worked in in the past, or an organization you are otherwise familiar with, either through personal experience or through the popular press. If you choose a large organization, you may decide to focus your analysis on an identifiable work unit (e.g., branch, division, large department) within the organization.

Step 2: Your task is to identify and briefly describe a current organizational problem or challenge faced by the organization. Relevant problems or challenges may include high turnover, low engagement among workers, the need to implement a change within the organization, poor team work, failure of a team on a project, demotivated workers, corrupt organizational culture, etc. Note that these are only examples and you are free to focus on other problems that have practical relevance to the specific organization. Next, critically analyze the problem or challenge you have identified drawing on relevant frameworks and concepts from Management and Leadership course. Then, based on your analysis, make specific recommendations on how to resolve the problem or challenge and how to improve the organization’s effectiveness in dealing with the issue. The recommendation section should be as thorough as the analysis section and it is suggested that the two sections are roughly equal in length. Avoid long and detailed descriptions of the problem or challenge you have identified, a short description with the necessary details is sufficient so that you can spend most of your time on your analysis and the recommendations.
