Using all the ELEMENTS of NATIONAL POWER (SPEDM: Socio-cultural-psychological; Political; Economic; Diplomatic; and Military) do an appraisal of today’s Japan. Use any and all of the sources/references we have used in this course on Japan. Categorize the various parts of SPEDM and put them into this strategic appraisal. The finished product will provide an up-to-date picture of Japan as well as a model to gauge and continually adjust the status of Japan’s national power, its strengths and weaknesses, and its development. Compile your Weekly Discussion Forums , edit them, do a summary and a future prospects portion and list your sources in “Works Consulted”. Add to each of them as you go along so that by the end of this course on contemporary Japan you have a useable reference source for anything that comes up on Japan. Submit your SA, completed through the Political element of national power, by “Course Mail” by the end of Learning Module 5: Sunday, February 2, 2020, Mid-course Assessment: Japan to Date as your midterm Exam; and by the end of Week 8, Learning Module 8: Sunday, March 1, 2019, Colloquium, for your final exam.
