Start Wireshark and open the capstone-labs-1-trace-file1.pcapng file.
2. If not already configured….right click on the any of the packet list columns, (i.e. No. column) and uncheck Time so that it is no longer visible in the packet list pane. Repeat this process so that the only columns that have a check mark next to them are No., Source, Destination, Protocol, and Info. You will only have five columns in the Packet List Pane. Now adjust your Wireshark application window so that it is not taking up your entire desktop. Reduce the width just until the gray slide bar in the Packet List Pane disappears. This will ensure your screenshots are not too large.
3. Adjust the Packet Lists Pane to display no more than 6 packets at a time.
4. Configure a display filter to find all packets that have an IPv4 source or destination address of 0.0.0.0 and apply the filter to the trace file.
5. Browse the list of IPv4 packets with an address of 0.0.0.0 and select a packet that has “DHCP Discover” in the Info column.
6. In the packet details pane, expand Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (Discover).
7. Expand Option: (53) DHCP Message Type (Discover), right-click DHCP: Discover (1), select Apply as Filter, and then select …and Selected. (If your filter options are grayed out, select another packet with “DHCP Discover” in the Info column.)
1. Provide a screenshot that shows the display filter properly applied, and all of fields listed above expanded. [Only Option (53) should be expanded, not any of the Option fields below it.].What did you accomplish in this part of Capstone Lab 1?
