Recent data shows that an estimated 30.6 million US students eat school lunches, only 6% of school lunch programs meet the nutritional requirements established by the US. With that being said, parents should ask themselves if the food that is going in their children’s bodies, is actually healthy. This could help the future health of young adults and even prevent obesity. At least when parents pack lunch for their children, they know what’s going in their stomach. Something else to realize is that the majority of schools will not care as much as a parent does about what type of food, and how good the quality is, that the children eat. Due to the unhealthy food that goes into school lunches, the United States should invest into improving school lunches for all grade levels.
