It’s expected that citations are used to support research using APA style (referencing, formatting and in-text citation).
Organizational Analysis
In this section provide a brief description of the Eastern Provincial University (it helps to assume this is a ‘real’ university located in Eastern Ontario) in regards to its main services, facilities, number of employees, where it is located, etc. Extra value would be to identify the vision and mission of the organization and a SWOT analysis of its competing educational institutions within its geographical marketplace. The key is to provide a detailed enough foundational perspective in which to develop a compensation system.
Re-Working the Job Descriptions
In this section, you need to re-work all the job descriptions given for Eastern Provincial University to better serve the point job evaluation methodology.
There are a total of 11 job class descriptions

- Clerk Stenographer II
- Clerk Stenographer III
- Draftsperson I

Develop Compensable Factors and Sub-factors
Need to define the compensable factors and sub-factors based on the work performed, support the strategy of the organization and distinguish between the jobs outlined in the Eastern Provincial University case. You will have to ‘weight’ your compensable factors in percentages as to their importance to the organization. Use chapter 8 as your guide for this process.
Develop Point Manual
In this section you will further describe your compensable factors and sub-factors in more detail in the form of description statements (minimum four sub-factors for each compensable factors and minimum four degrees or levels for all sub-factors). You need to be aware of issues such as; ambiguous factor definitions, inconsistent degree statements and overlap of factors. Again use Chapter 8 in the textbook as your guide.
Point Matrix
In this section, using an excel spreadsheet (mandatory requirement) you will develop point system matrix for your identified compensable factors and sub-factors – weighted accordingly. The only restriction is your point matrix must have a maximum of 1000 points. Chapter 8 in your text can provide some helpful guidance, as well as the following links.
Tools from the Ontario Pay Equity Commission – see the following link;

Job and Point Allocation Chart
In this section, using an excel spreadsheet (mandatory requirement) you will apply your point system matrix for all the identified compensable factors to the different jobs at Eastern Provincial University to derive a single hierarchy of jobs. Summarize this information in a table similar to Table 8.2.
Determining Pay Equity
After completing job and point allocation chart, apply the procedures required under the Ontario Pay Equity Act to determine whether pay equity exists for the female job classes at Eastern Provincial University using the annual salaries in the four job classes listed below. You need to display this information on a scatter-plot graph using excel (mandatory requirement) to compare female versus male jobs with points on the X-axis and salary on the Y-axis. After completing the scatter-plot graph, discuss the findings – i.e. do you have pay equity?

Clerk Stenographer Job Classes (95% female) | |
Clerk Stenographer I | $34,284 |
