O’Brien Educational Services After reviewing the OBrien database, Karen O’Brien wants to modify some records and then view specific information about the students, tutors, and contracts for her educational services company. She asks you to update and query the OBrien database to perform these tasks. Complete the following:
1. Open the OBrien database you created and worked with in Tutorials 1 and 2, and then click the Enable Content button next to the security warning, if necessary. 2. In the Tutor table, change the following information for the record with TutorID 79-0678: Degree is BA and Hire Date is 9/15/2015. Close the table. 3. In the Student table, find the record with the StudentID MCS8051, and then delete the related record in the subdatasheet for this student. Delete the record for StudentID MCS8051, and then close the Student table. 4. Create a query based on the Student table that includes the LastName, FirstName, and CellPhone fields, in that order. Save the query as StudentCellList, and then run the query. 5. In the results of the StudentCellList query, change the cell phone number for Haley Gosnold to 574-252-1973. Close the query. 6. Create a query based on the Tutor and Contract tables. Display the LastName field from the Tutor table, and the StudentID, ContractDate, SessionType, Length, and Cost fields, in that order, from the Contract table. Sort first in ascending order by the tutor’s last name, and then in ascending order by the StudentID. Save the query as SessionsByTutor, run the query, and the close it. 7. Copy and paste the SessionsByTutor query to create a new query named GroupSessions. Modify the new query so that it displays the same information for records with a Group session type only. Do not display the SessionType field values in the query results. Save and run the query, and then close it. 8. Create and save a query that produces the results shown in Figure 3-44. Close the query when you are finished.
9. Create and save a query that produces the results shown in Figure 3-45. Close the query when you are finished.
10. Create and save a query to display statistics for the Cost field, as shown in Figure 3-46. Close the query when you are finished.
11. Copy and paste the CostStatistics query to create a new query named CostStatisticsByCity. 12. Modify the CostStatisticsByCity query to display the same statistics grouped by City, with City appearing as the first field. (Hint: Add the Student table to the query.) Run the query, and then save and close it. 13. Compact and repair the OBrien database, and then close it.
