Class group presentations: Students will select one topic in which they will give 3 x 15 minute group presentations (or video presentations) of key concepts, relevant literature, state-of-the-art and current challenges. Grade percentage: 27%
Class blog: Student groups will write 3 x approx. (1500 word written) blogs based on their class group presentations which will be posted on the class blog. Grade percentage: 27%
1. Media innovation and debates over social computing. (Feb 19 & 21)
2. Media innovation and debates over artificial intelligence (Mar 19 & 21)
3. Media innovation and debates over virtual reality & virtual communities (Apr 9 & 11)
 You are required to integrate AT LEAST 5 peer-reviewed academic articles, BEYOND those covered in the assigned course readings.
 You should use, where appropriate, charts, pictures, video, sound, etc. to explain the points you make in your presentation.
 You must cite direct quotes from your articles within your project and reference them in spoken word/transcript so it is clear where the quotes have been taken from. Do not quote any exact words from your readings without expressly citing them, as this will be considered plagiarism and will result in an automatic fail.
Your project will be assessed on the following criteria:
 Thoroughness and accuracy of coverage of main concepts relating to the course readings.
 How well you educate your viewers on your chosen topic.
 Theoretical sophistication and depth.
 Integration of academic research not covered in class.
 Innovation and creativity. (Does the video hold the viewer’s attention? Is it engaging?)
 Quality of production.
 Effectiveness and accuracy of citations and references.
