Assessment Brief: Critical analysis of a chosen clinical scenario evaluating the considerations and challenges faced by the midwife when practising autonomously.
Maximum 3000 words.
Additional Assessment Guidance:
A clinical scenario that I have encountered in practice.
I can write it as a case study, a reflection or an essay.
The focus needs to be on professional challenges and considerations. Avoid simply describing the scenario and the care that was given. The work is marked at level 6, therefore need to demonstrate critical analysis, and reference to appropriate literature to support my arguments.
The work should be written in the third person and appropriately referenced. I need to insert an electronic cover sheet at the beginning and also double space the work. Any font and letter size, as long as it is clearly readable.
Learning Outcomes:
1. Evaluate the legal and professional issues that impact on autonomous midwifery practice and care.
2. Critically analyse the role of the midwife in a dynamic and challenging practice environment.
3. Explore the issues of team working and multidisciplinary working.
4. Appraise how midwives manage and prioritise competing demands to provide safe and effective care for women and their babies.
