In this assignment you are asked to investigate and produce a 4000-5000 word paper on any area of your choice as long as it adheres to the following rules:
• It must discuss a future database technology or a current database or data analytics technology currently being enhanced for future use. If you are going to choose the latter, then you will be marked only on that part of the paper that deals with the future development of the technology.
• Topics that cover the any of the following are not allowed.
o legal implications of the use of database or data analytics technology
o ethical implications of the use of database or data analytics technology
o social acceptance and impact of the use of database or data analytics technology
• You can cover the current and future applications of a database technology as long as the application of the technology is both recent and predicts future use.
Some suggested areas are listed below but I do not expect you to necessarily choose one of these. You do not have to get my permission to choose a particular area. You might start but using Google Scholar and see what people are publishing right now! Use the “Advanced Search” function to speed your search (eg here) Note that this is a research paper so I will be expecting an appraisal of leading-edge technology rather than an explanation of a current technology. The way you lay out your paper and presentation are up to you but look at existing papers, particularly good quality journals, and follow their example.
