Intermodal transportation or Intermodalism is the involvement of a vehicle or a container which is designed in such a way that it can be shifted from one mode of transport to another without breaking the load down.   In this forum, I will discuss the direction of intermodal transportation for the future

Customers of the international supply chains will demand quicker supply chain delivery of their products in the near future. As such, speed or the total transportation time throughout the supply chain will continue to be a significant factor as far as intermodal transportation is concerned (Lowe, 2006). Additionally, the customers will demand improvement in the implementation of the supply chains, represented by reliability and quality. There will also be increased acquisition of data through the utilization of information-communication capabilities that were dreamt of in the past. Intrinsically, that information will impel higher performance expectations as well as ensuring the provision of options, alternatives, and continued change. Lastly, customers and the operators in the supply chain will want all this to be done at a lower cost and in a manner, that will ensure maximization of profit. Hence, assessing the life-cycle cost of forthcoming technology application is crucial

In my opinion, intermodal transport will be an important factor in the accomplishment of hyper-competition among the future supply chains. Its most critical role in the global supply chains will demand a comprehension of various key concepts. First, the needs and requirement of the marketplace. Second, an understanding of the supply chain management. Third, the advances and capabilities of the information and communication technology and finally the continuing constraints and challenges on the transport infrastructure.

I have witnessed a lot of change in business even in logistics. Everything from the customer demand, technology, product and services and even marketplace is changing. As a result, for me, managing change has become as much a part of logistics job as meetings and memos. Although change is an integral part of the job, it has not been easy for me and I believe I will acquire the necessary skills to adapt to the changes

Good morning class. After reading this weeks writings, I would like to focus on trust. Trust throughout all of our lives is an important factor we all consider to be important in almost everything we do. Without trust we cannot rely upon anything. Trust in business in my opinion means the consumer believes the product they are buying will work as described and is valued in a fair way. Without consumer trust a company cannot reliably assume what they are trying to sell will. Most of us have bought a product that fell way below our expectations. In my case it was a truck. I bought a new Chevy 1500 4×4 and immediately started having trouble with it. At first it was minor issues like an interior light kept shorting out then it grew to the 4 wheel drive shifting would get stuck causing me to have to drive the truck in 4 wheel drive. I kept taking the truck to the dealership to get these issues fixed but ultimately decided to get rid of it. I have too many other things going on in my life to have to dedicate that amount of time to fixing a brand new vehicle and I lost the trust I need to drive it. The company as a whole did not meet my expectations with both quality and backing their own product. This is just one example and I in no way am bashing a company, just trying to portray a situation in my view that has affected consumer confidence. Overall though, having confidence in what we buy is a big part of a free and own market. Have a great week class,
