Conduct an interview with a director or administrator regarding the program’s evaluation and assessment plan. Ask the following questions:
■■ How often are staff members evaluated? What procedures are followed?
■■ How are evaluations used with staff to support their development as professionals?
■■ How often are children assessed? What types of assessments are completed? How were the assessments chosen?
■■ How does the administrator feel about the appropriateness of the assessments used with children? What changes might the administrator make regarding assessment of children if permitted to do so?
■■ What strategies are used to ensure the confidentiality of the results?
■■ How often is program evaluation carried out at the center? What procedures are followed? Are changes made to the program based on the evaluation?
