Homelessness is one of the major social problems that individuals experience in various parts of the world. As a resident in San Antonio TX, this writer identified the need to deal and resolves the existing problem of homeliness in San Antonio in order to improve the state of living and economic prosperity in the region. Homelessness is the situation of the person, family, or community living without stable, safe, permanent, appropriate housing, or the immediate prospect means and ability to acquire it (Morton, Dworsky & Samuels, 2017). This problem has facilitated to diverse negative implications to the community like increased crimes, mental problems, unemployment, and substance and drug abuse. According to William and Piedad (2019), San Antonio’s homeless population is sitting at 2,872 people. These individuals are subjected to harsh conditions in the street hence the need to develop a sustainable solution. Also, homelessness condition in the region facilitates the other social problems like increased teenage pregnancies, substances abuse, domestic violence and crime rates in the community.
Jacqueline Novogratz and Chef Chad Houser from the Momentum Café are incorporating an approach that empowers individuals with certain skills and talents to facilitate changes in the community. This approach is important and viable as it enables individuals to support and give back to the community in any way possible hence resolving some of the social problems in society. This writer will incorporate the skill of embracing the people’s potential towards providing personalized intervention for the homelessness individuals in the community. This can be achieved through professional volunteering and providing services to individuals faced with homelessness in San Antonio.
