Instructions:
To complete this assessment item, students must first complete the personality and emotions self-assessment via the following link
This activity takes approximately 30 minutes to complete and your results will be presented at the end of the self-assessment. Make sure you copy and paste your results into a Word Document before closing the window or printing results. A document to assist you in interpreting your results is provided as an attachment to this item. It is strongly recommended that students complete this survey in week 1 as it will assist both the lecturer and convenor in helping you prepare for your essay.
You will receive results for seven different measures of personality/emotions:
- Personality
- Big 5
- MBTI
- Type A/B
- Emotions and Moods
- Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PANAS)
- Habitual Emotion Regulation Questionnaire
- The Berkeley Expressivity Questionnaire
- STEM/STEU
Focusing on one measure selected from either of the two groups (personality or emotions) of measures listed above, you are required to report and analyse your test results for the chosen measure and, drawing on relevant research literature, demonstrate an understanding of what your self-assessment results might mean for your current or future workplace behaviour.
The essay should aim to:
- Demonstrate a critical consideration of the role personality oremotions play in the workplace through a critical review of the literature; and,
- Demonstrate increased self-awareness about your personality characteristics or emotions and moods via the self-assessment survey. This reflection should explain the meaning of the results (including a critique on their accuracy), strengths, and development areas. This analysis must be strongly supported by the literature in the area of personality or emotion and moods that will be discussed.
You are expected to read widely beyond the prescribed text. To this end, a minimum of 8 refereed academic journal articles must be cited throughout the essay. Articles that relate to these topics can be found in full text format in databases such as ProQuest, Business Source Premier and Psych Info. Referencing and in-text citations must be in APA format. For this assessment item, it is appropriate to write in the first person (i.e., to use “I” statements).
