Good sentences are built with good grammar. What does good grammatical structure look like? This assignment helps you apply your knowledge from this week’s modules and readings. As an employee, it will be expected that your written communication is organized, cohesive, and error-free. Following the steps in the writing process will allow you to increase your ability to effectively communicate your ideas and message in writing. Before you begin, however you must know your purpose and audience. Subject-Verb-Object The building blocks of all paragraphs are sentences with good structure that express a clear main idea. Most simple sentences have a subject (person, place or thing) a verb (action word), and an object (receives the action). You may refer back to Interactive 1C before completing this section. Suppose you work for a local cardiac care clinic and have been asked to write an article for the office Facebook page. Posts are made monthly on topics that are interesting to all their cardiac patients. The Facebook page was created to help inform patients of health issues that they may face and provide resources related to these issues. You are to write an article about a healthcare topic of your choice that you think would be both interesting and beneficial to the patients reading the Facebook page. Libraries have helpful resources such as books and magazines. I find it helpful to use their computers when I have an assignment due. I like to use the internet and look up information about a lot of topics. A library can help students who are enrolled in school. Instructors at UMA highly recommend that their students take advantage of the online library available to them by the school as well as local libraries that they are able to access in their communities. First, libraries are a great resource of educational materials, such as books, articles, and media. Moreover, using outside sources, such as books or articles will offer credibility to a student’s essay. Second, libraries are also a good resource for internet access and computers. To be specific, students without internet access at home can connect to the Wi-Fi at the library or use one of its computers to submit their assignments online. To sum up, instructors at UMA encourage students to make use of both online and brick and mortar libraries because of the many benefits they offer students.
