• Students have the option of working individually or in groups of two for this assignment. Students must decide whether they will complete this assignment individually or with a partner by 11:59PM on Monday of Week 1.

• Check back before the end of Week 1 to see if any other students have joined your group by doing the following:
  • Click on People in the Course Navigation.
  • On the People page, click on View User Groups.
  • Click on the title of your group and click on People in the Group Navigation. Group Member names will be listed under Group Members. If no other student has joined your group by 11:59PM on Monday of Week 1, you will be working individually on the Research Project Paper. Signing up for a group does not guarantee that you will find a partner to work with.

• If you decide to work individually, go to the Research Project Paper – Decision to Work Individually or with a Partner Discussion Board, click on the Working Individually thread, and create a post on this thread by 11:59PM on Monday of Week 1. Your post should indicate that you will be working individually on the Research Project Paper.
• If you have found a partner to work with, one member of each group should go to the Research Project Paper – Decision to Work Individually or with a Partner Discussion Board, click on the Working with a Partner thread, and create a post on this thread by 11:59PM on Monday of Week 1. Your post should list you and your partner’s name.

• An announcement listing who will be working individually, as well as each group and its members will be posted in Week 2.

• Anyone who does not report it by due date ( end of the first week), it is assumed that he/she is expected to work individually.
• If you joined a group and have successfully found a partner to work with, you and your partner will have access to the group communication and collaboration tools available in Canvas that only members of that group can access.

  To access your group’s collaboration area, click on People in the Course Navigation (to the left), click on View Student Groups and click on the title of your group. The following tools are available to each group to use in the LMS: Announcements, Pages, People, Discussions, Chat with text, audio and video communication, Files, Collaborations, and Conferences for virtual presentations. It is recommended that you post your contact information, including name, email and phone (optional) to your Group’s Discussion Board.   • Note: If your partner drops out of the course at any time, the remaining member of the group will have to complete the assignment individually. This student will still be responsible for completing the assignment. No exceptions or excuses will be accepted.

• In groups of two or individually, students will be expected to work on a graduate quality research project paper. This project paper is specially designed to practice how quantitative analysis techniques including statistical methods (particularly with respect to Multiple Regression and Correlation analysis) can be used to general empirical studies in graduate level research work relating to a real business and economic field. In addition, the research project is also designed to practice business and economic data retrieval through electronic data system and data analysis & interpretation based on the class learning.

• Research project paper should apply multiple regression and correlation analysis to a real business and economic field. Each paper should have an empirical model with at least 5-10 independent variables and a minimum of about 100 data observations in applying multiple regression and correlation model. The time period of the data employed for the paper should be at least 2-3 years (latest data is highly desirable).

• Research project paper should have a thorough explanation of the empirical model supported by a related literature and comprehensive interpretation of the computer output of multiple regression and correlation analysis (e.g., SPSS, Excel-Data Analysis or other statistical software programs)

• The Final Research Project Paper is expected to result in a typed paper of 15-20 double-spaced pages in length, exclusive of data, figures, and tables. Every table should be designed to present the computer output in a concise manner as presented in a sampling research paper (s).
• Final Proposal for Research Project Paper: You are expected to submit the proposal for a successful completion of project paper. The preliminary proposal (Optional) should present a general outline of the paper (i.e., a problem statement, objective of the paper, significance of paper). A preliminary proposal, at the instructor’s discretion, may be rejected or required to revise if it is not appropriate to the purpose of course. The preliminary proposal of the team’s planned project will have maximum 2-3 pages in length.
• The final proposal should include: (1) Introduction (i.e., issues of topic, purpose of the study, significance of the study), (2) Literature Review (i.e., a thorough review of relevant articles and statement of proposed hypotheses), (3) Methods (i.e., collection of sample and data, model, specification of variables in the model), and (4) List of Bibliography relating to the project topic (i.e., clear presentation of all literatures relating to the project report in accordance with the General Guideline for Citation and References as guided in Special Lecture 11).

• The final proposal of project paper should be about 8-10 pages in length.

• Since the final paper is expected to be a reflection of the approved proposal, research projects varying significantly from their approved proposal may be penalized.

• The Final Research Project Paper is required to be submitted no later than the end of Week 16. The final paper should include data used and copies of each references cited in the paper. The final group project paper will not be accepted later than the due date specified.

• The Final Research Project Paper must be made using word processing software in the presentation of all text material. If they are necessary, electronic spreadsheets, desktop publishing software, and special statistical package are expected to be used in the preparation of all graphs, figures, and tables and in the analytical computation of data. Poor spelling, grammar, and sentence construction will negatively affect your project grade.

• Develop PowerPoint (PPT) of final research project paper. The final development of PowerPoint (PPT) will be used as an alternative substitute for the physical presentation in a class session.
• To manage the technical requirements for preparation of project paper, each student is expected to follow the general guideline and style for a research project paper as introduced in the topical outlines and contents (also follow “Guideline for Writing a Research Project Paper” and “Citation and References” as provided in the special references).
• Each project paper should be developed according to the following contents:

(3) Related literature review / Theoretical foundation.

(4) Research questions and/or Hypotheses.

(6) Data analysis: Interpretation of the computer output.

(7) Major findings and Discussion: Comparison with/or contrast to other studies, Contributions of the study.

(8) Implication and Conclusion.

(9) Appendices: Tables and Figures.
