The Energy Information Administration reports the amount of renewable energy generated (in thousands of kilowatt-hours) in each of the states both including and excluding hydroelectric generation. The data are in Alternative Energy 2016.
Consider the relationship of hydroelectric power with alternative energy from non-hydro sources. Find a model for this relationship. Be sure to deal with any extraordinary or influential points. You may want to transform one or both variables. Discuss your residual analysis and the regression assumptions.
Now graph the relationship between (re-expressed) hydroelectric power and wind-generated power. Locate subgroups of states within this plot and discuss how they differ. Do you think a single model for the relationship of these renewable sources is appropriate? Summarize your conclusions in a report.
