Dissemination of evidence is the targeted distribution of information and intervention materials to a specific public health or clinical practice audience. More effective dissemination strategies are needed due to established delays in incorporating evidence into routine practice, rapidly expanding biomedical knowledge base, diffuse or disorganized information sources, or due to information overload (Communication and Dissemination Strategies To Facilitate the Use of Health-Related Evidence, 2012). Dissemination strategies aim to spread knowledge and the associated evidence-based interventions on a wide scale within or across geographic locations, practice settings, or social or other networks of end-users such as patients and health care providers (Communication and Dissemination Strategies To Facilitate the Use of Health-Related Evidence, 2012). There are many strategies that are used when disseminating evidence related to health care outcomes. These strategies include presenting at national conferences and meetings of professional associations, publishing new policies regarding study results, and creating power points of evidence regarding the study results. These different strategies help inform, empower, and engage a multitude of groups interested in improving healthcare. Presenting evidence to key stakeholders and agencies relating to healthcare improvement will enhance the decision-making capability among the group members involved in healthcare improvement and promote more effective patient outcomes. Overall, dissemination is used to promote and improve the health outcomes. Dissemination helps distribute evidence widely to many audiences and across many settings to increase the reach of information, motivate recipients to use and apply the evidence and to increase the interest in the evidence, and enhancing the ability to use and apply evidence by providing additional resources about the evidence, such as how it can be incorporated into current practice or specific suggestions for change (Communication and Dissemination Strategies To Facilitate the Use of Health-Related Evidence, 2012).
