T he name of this class is Cultural Pluralism in order to let you know. this is to be posted in blackboard. Discuss the role of language in cultural and ethnic diversity. Identify terms and/or phrases that were “acceptable” when you were younger, but are now considered insensitive or offensive. Are these changes for the better? Note: I am from Cuba in order to put the word in Spanish I put here a little example of some of my classmate use in order to help you better with this assignment this is part of the example in order that you understand remember I need to post this in blackboard I grew up speaking Spanish and one of the terms I would often say incorrectly is “patas”. As a child it was acceptable to use this word when talking about my legs, but as an adult/future nurse it is inappropriate to use the word “patas”. The proper word for legs in Spanish is “piernas”. The word “patas” is used to address an animals leg, as you can see this can be highly offensive if I were to say the word “patas” to a patient. Another insensitive phrase that is no longer acceptable, is mentioning “the” before someones name. For example, “la Janet or el Hector”. It is inappropriate because it sounds as if you are objectifying the person. These changes are for the better because making small grammar mistakes sound immature and could possibly offend the person avoid plagiarism GRADING RUBRIC: Studentinitial discussion is one in which all aspects of the discussion question is answered using one’s own words and interjecting researched information from publishedmaterial, supported by in?text citations, followed by all researched published material cited using APA 6th edition formatting.
