To a point I agree with what you said in your post, If you want to be technical both are good ways to determine the race to the White House. Whomever has the most votes from a specific state, wins the electoral votes from that state. I feel that voting is a popularity contest, and not about the issues that natter most. If you went with popular vote back in 2016, Hillary Clinton (whom I voted for) would be the first woman president in the history of this country, instead we have a person who lies, makes fun of people with disabilities, calls people names (Pocahontas, Sleepy Joe, Shifty Schiff), supports White Nationalists, and White Supremacists with comments like “very fine people on both sides” in Charlottesville, says “Coronavirus will just go away with the weather being warmer” (lie). Yes popular increases voter turnout, however, I feel as the expression claims, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” My feeling Sophia is that popular vote determines how electoral college votes goes. However, the problem is it makes the state become red or blue based on the popular vote of the state. If we went with popular vote each state would be independent from each other and each state would become its on country. The same can be said by using the electoral college. Depending on how the entire state votes, it determines whether the state is blue or red. Comment as you see fit. Min 50 words or more
