– 12 Years a Slave Instructions: Your paper should be 2-3 pages in length, and should follow the typical format for university-level papers: typed, 12pt font, double-spaced, 1 in. margins. The paper is due at the start of class on Thursday, January 5. You will be penalized one-letter grade if your paper is late, and I will not accept any papers after the end of class. You also have to submit an electronic version of your paper to turnitin.com. A link is available in the Course Documents folder on the course Blackboard website. You have until midnight on January 5 to do this, or you will receive a one-letter grade penalty. Prompt: Using at least 3-4 examples from the film, describe slavery in American society in the first half of 19th Century. (You should think about the experience of both slaves and slave owners.)
