In this final week, you will create a 1-page professional résumé that illustrates your education. Focus on your knowledge of electronic health records and any relevant professional experience that will aid you in earning employment in the health care industry and working with patient records.

 

You also will write a 1-page clear, concise, and effective cover letter meant to be used with your résumé as a job applicant.

Part I: Résumé

 

The following instructions will assist you in finding and selecting a suitable résumé template if you do not have one already.

 

  1. Opena new Microsoft® Word document.
  2. Click the File tab and select New.
  3. At this stage, Microsoft® Word offers you the opportunity to choose from a variety of other templates such as resumes and CVs instead of opening a blank document (see below).

     

     

  4. Click on Resumes and CVs.
  5. Choose a résumé template that would be suitable for the position you have chosen in your accompanying Week Seven assignment: EHR Specialist Employment Opportunities.
  6. Click Download (this requires an Internet connection).
  7. You will then be presented with a résumé form that you can edit using your unique personal and professional information.

     

When you have completed your 1-page résumé, turn it in as you would a paper or worksheet.

 

Part II: Cover Letter

 

The following instructions will assist you in finding and selecting a suitable cover letter template if you do not have one already.

 

  1. Opena new Microsoft® Word document.
  2. Click the File tab and select New.
  3. At this stage, type cover letter in the search field and click the search arrow, as shown below:

     

     

     

  4. Choose a cover letter template that would be suitable for the position that you have chosen in your accompanying Week Seven assignment: EHR Specialist Employment Opportunities.
  5. Click Download (this requires an Internet connection).
  6. You will then be presented with a cover letter form you can edit using your unique personal and professional information.

     

When you have completed your 1-page cover letter, turn it in as you would a paper or worksheet under the Assignment Files tab
