Create a table shell using the example in Table 12–24 that would effectively summarize the following characteristics measured in an observational study that is designed to investigate risk factors for new-onset diabetes. Risk factors will be compared between adults with at least one parent with diabetes and adults whose parents are free of diabetes. The risk factors of interest include demographic characteristics such as age (measured in years), sex (male/female), educational achievement (eighth grade or less, some high school, high school graduate, some college, college graduate, postgraduate). Other risk factors include clinical attributes such as systolic and diastolic blood pressures (mm Hg); total, HDL, and LDL cholesterols (mg/dL); and smoking (never, current, former). Lastly, participants were asked to report the number of hours per week they engage in regular physical activity. Set up the table to summarize the results. Be sure to include variable names, units of measurement, the statistics that will be presented, and the precision of each (i.e., numbers of decimal places to be reported).
