Transnational Organized crime generally focuses mainly on economic profit, acquiring material benefits and obtaining as much of an illegal market share as possible, by the use of serious crimes such as Drug trafficking, fraud and violence. Whereas, terrorism is more motivated by ideological aims and by a desire for political change, by the use of violence, in the form of hijacking, bombing and other destructive acts. Describing similarities between TOC and terrorism is the fact that both groups operate secretly, both uses front organizations such as, a front of a legitimate business or charities to commit illegal activities. Plus, both groups uses ruthlessness and intimidation methods. In addition, both groups can demand high level loyalty to their members. My biggest concern with both groups, is the fact that both groups uses computers to do most of their illegal activities, making it hard for law enforcement to catch them.
Analyze financing activities of terrorist groups and transnational organized crime groups. Describe the relationship between these two groups in relation to their financial practices. Support my response. I would say that both groups uses the economic means to motivate and recruit individuals into their organizations or to commit their crimes. Both groups transfer funds though money laundering.
