The steps and hints below will guide you through the business plan, but you will need to search some information in order to support your global business plan and get high marks.
0. By looking into your personal background, inter-personal ties, technical skills, and experience, is there any kind of businesses that you are interested in and/or any business idea that you find achievable? For this, write no more than one page as a pre-assessment component that is separate from the business plan. You may also consider your colleagues or friends who may hypothetically help with the business or the start-up. You may add your resume in the appendix as well, so that I can better understand how you connect your background, skills, and experience with your business idea. This is also a good opportunity for you to start putting together a resume, outside the context of this course, for your future career after graduation.
1. To be realistic about the kind of business you are planning as an entrepreneur, you may search and select a moderately new product or service that has already been existing in the market. You may also define your domestic market or the location of your company’s head office as either your country of origin or the country you are currently residing i.e. Canada. After defining your domestic location, you can consider your company internationalizing to at least one foreign location. The business activities to be conducted in this foreign location can be any primary or supporting activities within a value chain, such as manufacturing, sales, as well as research and development. The entry mode your company will use at this foreign location depends these business activities.
