The Summative Assessment requires you to submit a 2000 word essay, focussing on one aspect of your developmental needs, in relation to the learning outcomes for this module.

For example, you may wish to identify the skills and qualities required for an effective team player and how you would go about developing these. You need to consider what resources you would need and how this would benefit you and others.

2. Discussion of, and justification/rationale for selected area

3. Identification of the theory that supports your learning (NB this should be integrated with 2 above)

4. References using Harvard system (Please use the “Cite Them Right” facility accessible from the VLE to guide your referencing)

5. The Action Plan as an appendix

You are also expected to append an action plan to your essay. The action plan will include your developmental needs within the role of Assistant Practitioner. The action plan will meet the learning outcomes of the module. In developing the action plan you will:

1. Identify your academic and professional development needs to be successful as an Assistant Practitioner, in relation to the selected area.

1. State clear objectives with short, medium and long term goals.

1. The objectives should be SMARTER in nature (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Timely, Evidence and Research based)

You will have an opportunity to discuss the development of your action plan with your seminar leader, prior to submission of the assignment. The action plan should be included as an appendix to your essay.
