Results of a study to assess attitudes toward reading of 35 second-grade students from two different classrooms in the school are given. Students were administereda survey measuring attitudes toward reading at the beginning of the year (pretest) and again at the end of the year (posttest). During the year, the teachers of both classes designed a series of weekly activities designed to enhance students’ attitudes toward reading. The scores of the students from the beginning and end of year were compared using a paired-samples t-test. The mean on the pretest was 34.31; the mean on the posttest was 36.77. There was an increase of 2.457 points from pretest to posttest.
