This paper will analyze a literary magazine or journal, providing analysis that reflects the principles we have discussed in class.
* The paper should be 7-10 pages in length, NOT including the “Works Cited” section. It should use MLA formatting and should use Times New Roman font (to keep uniformity in page length).
* Your research should include both primary sources (i.e. the journal/magazine itself and its contents) as well as secondary sources (i.e. books and articles ABOUT the magazine or about literary magazines in general, or about the role of contemporary literature/writing in American culture). You should have between 3 and 5 secondary sources for this project.
* Your paper should have a clear thesis that makes an argument about the primary philosophies and aims of the journal/magazine AND the implications of the magazine (and its contents) for the larger culture. Take your time developing this thesis as it will greatly impact the success of your paper. Ideally, this thesis would appear in the first couple paragraphs of the paper to help frame the paper.
* You should plan on submitting a brief proposal of the paper (approx 150 words) by Wed, 3/25).
*Ultimately, a successful paper will include: a) an introduction to the magazine/journal, b) a clear thesis that reflects the assignment, c) references to specific content from the magazine/journal to support the thesis, d) references to secondary sources to provide general context and to support the thesis.
* The paper is required to pass the course. No exceptions.
