Social media marketing has gained a lot of popularity all over the world because as time goes by, more social media platforms are developed and more people subscribe to these platforms. Social media marketing is a marketing technique employed by companies all over the world to market their products and services using the internet (AG, 2020). Various reasons influence companies to use social media marketing over other methods of marketing, but the major reason is that social marketing makes it possible for companies to access markets from all over the world (AG, 2020). Many marketing techniques are implemented all over the world by both small and large companies but social media is the most effective tool for marketing products and services due to its cost-effective, customer satisfaction, and brand awareness.
Cost-Effective
This is the main reason why many companies prefer social media marketing; online platforms make it possible for companies to access a lot of people irrespective of their geographical distances but still use the least amount for advertisement. Unlike other forms of marketing online marketing requires few resources, for example, social media platforms, personnel with knowledge in online marketing, and adverts that will be posted on social media platforms (“7 reasons why social media marketing is important for your business”, 2020). Similarly, companies can make more profits from using this marketing strategy because they will make little investment but the platforms have the ability of generating a lot of revenue for the organizations. Other marketing techniques such as mainstream media, television, and radio require a lot of investment where the companies are required to pay for airtime, and the cost of airtime depends on the length of the advert meaning that the longer the advert the higher the costs, while for social media marketing once an advert is posted, it will stay on the platform for as long as the company sees fit at no additional costs.
Improved Customer Satisfaction
Social media platforms have increased interaction between companies and their customers. The platforms have brought about a bridge between these two groups and this means that the companies can get feedback from their customers on the quality of their products or how products and services that are produced by the companies have the ability of satisfying their needs and requirements (“7 reasons why social media marketing is important for your business”, 2020). By analyzing the feedback received from customers, the company can improve on the quality of products and services that it offers to its customers hence increased customer satisfaction. The success of many companies greatly depends on the responses that they receive from their customers. The fact that social media marketing makes it possible for the companies to interact with their customers, gives it an added advantage over other methods of marketing.
Improved Brand Awareness
Social media platforms are not geographically limited meaning that an individual from any part of the world can have access to the posts that are made companies. If an organization implements buzz marketing, then the companies brand will enjoy popularity. Buzz marketing is an advertisement technique that is designed to create a conversation about the products and services offered by a company. Social media platforms including Twitter and Facebook are the most common advertisement platforms and they have subscribers in millions meaning that when a company posts a product, there is a high probability that a lot of people will see the company’s adverts hence creating awareness about its existence. With the improvement in technology and the rate at which people are embracing social media, companies must re-evaluate their marketing strategies.
Social media marketing is one marketing technique that is not affected by location since any company or customer who has access to the internet can join the available social media platforms hence a large number of social media subscribers (“7 reasons why social media marketing is important for your business”, 2020). Companies take advantage of this feature of social media platforms to tap into a wider market spread all over the world. Companies can supply their products and services to people from any part of the world. This marketing technique stands out from the rest, for example, paper adverts and billboards are some forms of marketing methods which are affected by the location because when a billboard is erected, only people who are located in that region will see the advert hence the reach of this advertising platform is limited.
Conclusion
To conclude, while in this essay I have highlighted three factors that make social media marketing stand out of the rest of marketing techniques, many other benefits accrue to a company that implements social media marketing. Cost-effective, customer satisfaction, and brand awareness are the three aspects that are I have considered in this assignment and they make this technique stand out from the rest.
