Learning outcome 3
Implement and critically evaluate an innovative and effective quality enhancement project.
Learning outcome 4
Critically evaluate the impact of the practice improvement project, and critically reflect on personal performance.
Assessment: Project implementation and 3,500 word evaluation Weighting: – 30%
This submission is a 3,500 word essay, which provides a critical reflection of your project so far, and the evidence to support your implementation.

Learning Outcome 3: Dossier of evidence / Appendices
LO3. “Implement and critically evaluate an innovative and effective quality enhancement project.”
The focus of this learning outcome is the practical application of LO’s 1&2. For this, you will need to provide evidence of your project implementation.
Suggested possible evidence may be the following however, this list is not exhaustive:-
- policy documents you have created
- guidelines, you have created
- data collection tools that you have designed
- your interim results and data analysis
- patient information materials or learning materials you have created
- Papers/reports you have produced and presented to a range of audiences to promote and share your work
The purpose of this evidence is to demonstrate what you have achieved to date in relation to your identified goals. You may wish to make reference to this evidence in your critical reflection. A good way to present this work would be in chronological order. You should only include key work, not ancillary work such as emails asking people to attend meetings etc. This evidence is NOT included in your word count.
All the evidence in the dossier /appendices must be YOUR OWN work, authored and created by yourself. Therefore DO NOT include national guidance documents such as NMC or DOH guidance.
The emphasis should be on demonstrating what actions you took and the subsequent production of your work to implement this project within the context of organisational and service development and provide evidence of innovation and quality enhancement.
Learning Outcome 4 (Word Count 3,500 words)
LO4 “Critically evaluate the impact of the practice improvement project, and critically reflect on personal performance.”
LO 4 can be broken down into 3 parts:-
- Critical Reflection
- Initial Evidence of Impact
- Recommendations for enhancement
- Critical Reflection of personal performance –
Analyse your performance and personal success in the implementation of your project so far. You may consider the theoretical knowledge in relation to leading, motivating, and assessing your success so far. Make references to the literature, to provide an evidence based rationale for the strategies you used to overcome any challenges and setbacks and consider if you have started to achieve your original stated outcomes from LO 1 & 2 .
- Use and reference a reflective model
- First person writing style
- Try to avoid conversational, descriptive writing
- Consider your performance by utilising relevant theory and applying them specifically to the project implementation
- Initial Evidence of Impact
This is the results section of the essay. In this section, you need to provide evidence of the project’s success so far and how this is being measured. You may wish to refer to any evidence or results provided in your appendices.
- Recommendations for enhancement
This section allows you to explore any possible outstanding actions in relation to your project and how you intend to address these. You may also wish to highlight possible risks and implications for your project.
Based upon your experience of the project, make some specific recommendations about how this project can be improved and developed. These should be useful in ensuring the long term sustainability of your project as well as useful to others who may wish to implement a similar project in their own locality.
