In this assessment you must identify and measure the factors that the HRM function in a hypothetical firm should consider when proposing a corporate entrepreneurship change program.
For this assessment you must write a management report of approximately 3,000 words
(+10%), which includes two parts.
• Part 1: Analyse and assess the current state of corporate entrepreneurship of a fictitious company for which the details and data sheets will be provided by your tutor.
• Part 2: In response to your findings in Part A, make brief recommendations of what the HRM department could do to enhance the levels of corporate entrepreneurial activity in this company Details of the questions:
Your task is to first analyse and assess the current state of corporate entrepreneurship in a company, and then propose appropriate courses of action to foster entrepreneurship and innovation within this firm. You will need to read the following case study and use the datasets available in the Assessment section in Canvas.
Case study
Australian high-tech medical equipment manufacturer, MedPro Pty Ltd, has been developing and exporting a range of products for the past 15 years. The company employs 250 people in a single location in Melbourne. Hilary Trump is the CEO, supported by five general managers (R&D,
Operations, Sales & Marketing, Finance and HRM) in what is largely a functional-type organisational structure. The HR Manager has tasked your team to analyse and interpret the EI and CECI datasets that were recently obtained.
In addition, she has asked you to make brief recommendations for what the HRM department can do in response to the findings. The entrepreneur intensity (EI) dataset consists of six responses, those of the CEO and the five general managers, while the 15 responses in the CECI dataset are anonymous. They originate from people at various management levels and functional
areas in the company. Use these datasets to analyse and assess the current state of corporate entrepreneurship in this company and write a report in which you present and interpret your findings and summarise your recommendations for the HRM department.
Make sure you clearly distinguish between the EI and the ‘climate for corporate entrepreneurship’.
You will need to be familiar with Excel’s ‘average’ and ‘standard deviation’ functions, and how to interpret them in the context of this assignment.
You will also need to consider the following:
– Have you calculated all the relevant indices?
– Have you accounted for large differences in responses to the same question?
– Have you synthesised the responses into meaningful interpretations? – Have you followed a systematic approach in presenting your findings?
– Have you categorised your recommendations into short, medium and longer-term categories?
