- In Interstellar, growing food has become very difficult. Describe ONE possible reason that the movie alludes to or states as a possible cause for this problem. Be very specific regarding the reason, e.g. don’t just say there is a lack of water, or there is a biodiversity problem – indicate a specific phrase, action, situation, etc. that indicates a specific problem. A few somewhat vague examples include: dust storms, the need to wait for rain, biodiversity issues, and allusions to excessive consumption. Feel free to expand one of these examples and analyze it.
- Justify why you consider this to be a cause of the main sustainability problem. In other words, provide evidence that this is the main sustainability-related problem in the movie.
- Research the scientific basis for this specific phenomenon. Be very clear and thorough with your analysis. Explain the science behind the phenomenon. Make sure you at least address whether or not there is a valid scientific basis. Use at least one reliable source of information for this analysis.
- Relate it to a phenomenon that is happening today, has happened in the past, or is predicted to happen in the near future. Cite and explain at least one specific exampleof this happening or being projected to happen in the near future. Cite your source.
