Requirements
1. In Weeks 3 or 4 of the Term, select a job advertisement relating to the ICT field from www.seek.com.au website. You can select any ICT related advertisement as long as it displays adequate information about the role, tasks/responsibilities and skills that you can analyse for this assessment. It should also be a very recent advertisement. You may want to select an advertisement that suits your future career plans. Select the Information and Communication Technology filter (and any sub-filters) to identify an ICT related advertisement – note you may get 0 marks for non-ICT job advertisements.
2. Provide a screenshot of the selected job advertisement:
a. Take a screenshot so that you can upload it to Moodle as a part of your assessment. You can copy and paste the advertisement to a Word document or save as an image file and then insert to a Word document.
b. Add the URL of the advertisement at the bottom of the image so the markers can confirm the currency of the advertisement if necessary (please note some advertisements may disappear when the role fills. Therefore screenshots and the URL are essential).
c. Your advertisement must show the date of advertisement in the screenshot – The advertisement must be current; within less than 2 weeks (preferably 1 week) before the deadline of the assessment.
3. Check the COIT20249 Unit Profile to identify the Unit Learning Outcomes (ULOs). Unit Learning Outcomes are revised from Term 2 2018. Refer to the current term Unit Profile. Any repeating students must comply with this requirement. Using the ULOs from previous terms will result in loss of marks.The current ULOs as extracted from the Unit Profile:On successful completion of this unit, you will be able to:1. Describe the basic principles and importance of effective interpersonal communication, active listening and reading for meaning2. Communicate professional skills and ideas effectively both verbally and in written form using appropriate language3. Create and deliver effective oral presentations
4. Argue the importance of ethics, codes of behaviour, and societal, privacy and legal issues within the ICT industry
5. Demonstrate how teamwork skills, common work practices and values operate in the Australian workplace
6. Evaluate how emerging technologies can be used to improve organisational processes including communication and collaboration.
4. Analyse the job advertisement using the Critical thinking and Analysis skills, and the ALC embedded sessions in Week 2 of the Term (check the COIT20249 website and the COIT20249 ALC embedded web site if you were late to enrol).
5. From the selected job advertisement, identify 3 tasks/responsibilities/role information that require some of the skills covered in the ULOs.
6. Explain how you plan to perform each of these three tasks/responsibilities/roles using the skills/knowledge from some of the Unit Learning Outcomes. Clearly link to each ULO or its specific parts if a ULO consists of more than one skill (you don’t need to use all ULOs but use at least 2 or 3 ULOs). Following is the suggested lay out for this part.
a. Write a short paragraph of around 50 words about the purpose of the assessment.
b. Explain how you will perform each tasks/responsibilities/roles using a relevant ULO under a separate heading and a paragraph.
i. Each explanation must be around 150 words. It should clearly identify example tasks and link to the relevant ULOs from the current Term.
c. Total Word count for the purpose and the explanation should be around 500 +/-10% words. Any coversheet you provide is not included in the word count.
d. Check spelling/grammar/structure of your submission.
7. Submit the MS-Word file to Moodle. You must submit a single Word file where the screenshot of the image is copied/inserted at the beginning, and the written content (purpose and the explanation) begins from a new page.
8. You should use to the Unit and ALC materials from Weeks 1, 2 and 3 as relevant to get the skills needed for this assessment.
9. You do not need to provide any references other than writing the correct URL for the job advertisement at the bottom of the image as the Source (see Step 2 above).
10. You will get 0 marks if you do not upload a screenshot of the correct job advertisement used for this assessment. Markers cannot confirm the accuracy without the screenshot. You may also get 0 marks if the job advertisement is about a non-ICT position.
Marking Criteria (Total 10 marks)
• The entire Word file must be able to be processed in Turnitin – that is, it must contain text and NOT images other than the job advertisement. Any words presented as an image will receive 0 marks.
• Submissions without the screenshot of an ICT related job advertisement will receive 0 marks.
• Non ICT job advertisements will not be considered for marking.
• Job advertisement must be recent – less than two weeks before the deadline (preferably 1 week or less). Older advertisements or where the URL doesn’t work will not be considered for marking.
1. Provided a screenshot of a current and valid ICT job advertisement as in the specifications (1 mark).
2. Inserted the URL of the job advertisement as the Source for the screenshot (0.5 mark).
3. The job advertisement displays the published date (0.5 mark).4. Purpose of the assessment in around 50 words (0.5 mark).
5. Explanation of how you will perform 3 tasks/responsibilities/role from the ICT job advertisement, using some of the skills covered in the current Unit Learning Outcomes (Total 6 marks – maximum 2 marks for each explanation).
6. Length – explanation of each task is around 150 words and the total word count for the purpose and the explanation approximately 500+/-10% words (0.5 marks).
7. Correct spelling/grammar/structure/ease of reading and layout (1 mark).
