drawn from your own teaching experienceto identify and illustrate your understanding ofgood ELT practice with a focus on learners, learning aims, lesson planning, teaching and learning resources and assessment. The portfolio is equivalent to 5,000 words.
You are required to collect evidence for each of the above items (i.e. learners, lesson planning, teaching a topic or a skill, learning resources, and assessment, amongst others but not restricted to these) to illustrate your understanding of ‘good practice’ and include a critical report containing an analysis ofa maximum of eight pieces of evidence. This means that each individual report should be up to 625 words. The analysis must cover key theoretical frameworks discussed in the module so that the links between theory and practice are clearly articulated.
In order to fulfil the requirements of this assignment you need to:
1. Choose one your teaching groups and using reflective practice to define and justify what you understand by ‘good teaching practice in EFL’.
2. Determine the criteria to identify good teaching practice in the context of your institution and your chosen teaching group.
3. Apply the above criteria consistently in the selection and discussion of evidence.
4. Provide a rationale for the choice of evidence. This needs to include a critical/analytical discussion (rather than a description) to show how the evidence reveals aspects of your understanding of ‘good practice in ELT’ within your professional context.
5. Include a wide range of bibliographical sources ..
It is important to note that the portfolio must show a clear narrative. Whilst you will be writing short reports for eight individual pieces of evidence, all the individual reports have to contribute to the unity and coherence of the portfolio. This has to be achieved by making connections between topics.
The portfolio has to be submitted using a Word document and should contain an introduction (a brief description of the context), a table of contents for each piece of evidence (provide headline information about the type of evidence, i.e. students’ coursework) and a conclusion.
