Reflections on your learning (1-2 pages)
This is where you reflect deeply on your learning processes during this subject as a whole. Here’s where you step back from the content, which you’ve described in other assignments, and think about how you went about doing the learning.
Did you feel more comfortable using one part of the Kolb Cycle in preference to another? For example, what time did you devote to reflecting on what happened as compared with actually doing the activity? How much time did you give to generating new ideas – to thinking about what to do next and how you could use some of the communication skills in your professional and personal life? What did you discover about the way you learn? Did you learn mostly by:

  • being told something?
  • puzzling things out for yourself?
  • emotional responses?
  • intellectual, abstract thinking process?
  • talking problems through with other people?
  • observing others?
  • letting ideas incubate in the back of your mind?
  • consciously reflecting about your past experiences?
  • trial and error, experimentation?
  • other ways?
  • a combination of some of these ways?
  • what do you now have to offer about learning that would help someone just beginning this process?
  • what would you do to be a more effective learner?

I highlighter how did I learn

Notes from the lecturer:

  • Part B – reflect on what was learnt from the case study in terms of process skills as well as learn from how the group worked whilst addressing the case on a process level. The latter is potentially fruitful learning as it is very lived in experience.
  • Remember I am impressed by those who look forward and think about how will this experience help me shape a better future for myself from having developed wisdom (pause and think, what does he mean by wisdom!)
  • With conclusions on the case and the group process come to you conclusions – show me why you think what you think using evidence (if you do not use evidence as a manager DO NOT TRUST YOURSELF!

             My notes:

  • Does kolb help how to learn? Pretty much we followed kolb stages which are 4 to shape our actions.
  • I only had one process of learning which was: having my own point of view, not sharing my thoughts with anyone, working alone
  • I learned that working in group is a big tool that helped me to share my findings with other people, read their thoughs and apply them, to use my skills and cooperation to archive the task how we did it: 1: we share our findings of the case and we highlight the points, 2 each completed a stage of the case based on everyone findings, 3: after completing out parts we shared them for feedback
  • How IQ communication skills helped me to communicate with the group
  • How we managed the process of communication to complete the tasks: by internet, each of us did some findings and share them with the rest and we all commented and completed the case study
  • Conclusions: Me as manager: How can working in groups will help me in my personal and professional life, How can Kolb will help me in a real life situation, for example at work? If I came up with an idea about something that I need to communicate with my team? (you can do an example here)
