The purpose of this assessment is to further explore the hypothetical implementation of the recommended quality improvement initiative from Assignment 1.
This second assessment (presentation) will focus on the ‘how’ aspects of the quality improvement initiative.
Students will be asked to develop an 8 – 10 minute professional, clear and visually appealing presentation with audible and articulate narration.
To focus your presentation, the hypothetical audience is the clinical manager(s) of the area in which you propose to implement the quality improvement initiative with the aim of demonstrating why the initiative is important and how you will assure its success, in order to gain the manager’s support.
In order to be successful in this assessment task students are required to:
· briefly summarise the key aspects of the chosen quality issue and the aim of the QI initiative to be explored (drawn from assignment 1);
· identify how implementation of your proposed quality improvement project can enhance patient outcomes;
· apply a quality improvement framework (for example the Plan, Do, Study, Act model) to the proposed quality improvement initiative / strategy;
· reflect on the clinical leadership qualities required to promote change in practice and discuss the change management processes that could be utilised to implement the proposed initiative; and
· appraise the strengths and limitations of the proposed quality improvement initiative.
Presentation guidelines:
This assignment is to be submitted in narrated presentation format (eg. narrated slides or video).
Presentation is to be professional, clear and visually appealing with audible and articulate narration and 8 – 10 minutes in length.
Formatting requirements include:
· Unit number, unit title, assignment title, student number, total time of the presentation submitted;
· Reference to resources used to support discussion mentioned within the presentation and / or provided in in-text format within the presentation; and
· Reference list provided formatted as per APA 7th edition requirements.
