Choose the analysis timeframe, and define relevant interventions. Note that in software, parameters of the analysis can easily be managed. This is not the case in real‐life measurement, where semi‐controlled experiments are typical; for instance weather conditions cannot be set by the analyst. However, there may be some prospects to ‘force’ behaviour, for instance by setting extreme control setpoint values, directed interventions in occupancy and others. Where factors are not controllable, these need to be accounted for, and the duration of analysis needs to be selected in such a way as to allow the building to cover the most common situations.
