What was the relationship between the U.S. Constitution the American Revolution?  What was unprecedented about the Constitution and the political system it established?  What precedents did the first political administrations set in the early Republic?  What values were (ostensibly) shared, and what were the contradictions/compromises embedded in the Constitution and its interpretation?
